As mentioned above, broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable rich in nutrients and flavor, being highly appreciated for its nutritional value. On many occasions, we encounter the need to retain this ally, but we do not always know the best way to do so. Therefore, today we will explain how to preserve it while maintaining its nutritional values for future consumption.
If you plan to consume it in the near future, approximately within a week, it is best to store it in the refrigerator, preferably in the vegetable drawer and in a slightly open plastic bag to maintain the necessary moisture.
On the other hand, if you have a larger amount of broccoli or want to keep it for a longer period, the optimal option is to freeze it. How to do it correctly? First, separate the flowers and prepare them to maintain their properties and texture. To do this, replace them in boiling water for about 3 minutes with the lid on. Then, cool them quickly with cold water to stop cooking. Once done, let the broccoli flowers dry and then place them in a freezer bag, making sure they don’t absorb odors. This way, you will have your broccoli available for months without losing its properties.
